Stage Curtain mary bryan designs Home Magician Ventriloquist Buffoon Children’s Shows Adult Shows Events Bookings For more than 22 years John worked as a Baltimore City Police Officer investigating the most serious and fatal traffic accidents at night and entertaining audiences by day.  He was featured in People Magazine for his work as Officer Dodge at night and Doctor JJ during the day. John was the magical consultant for the documentary “Fast Games, Fast Money” about the street games of New York City, which took the prestigious Rose Bud Award.  He has also been featured in Readers Digest, various TV News programs, newspapers, and magazines, including Baltimore’s Best. Since retiring from the Police Department his entertainment career has blossomed to become a full time occupation. As well as entertaining adults at corporate events, trade shows and banquets; he is a favorite at children events.  A sample of some satisfied customers include NAPA Auto Parts, Bank of America, Hershey Park, Giant Food, and TOWER Software.

Magician Footlights for the show John Dodge first donned a red rubber nose, floppy shoes and some grease paint to entertain children at a social club picnic in June 1979. This was the start of his entertainment career. Joining Clowns of America Inc. and The International Brotherhood of Magicians, John studied the arts of Magic & Clowning.
John soon found himself entertaining audiences up and down the East Coast. John was presented with the Fred Schmelz Award from the Maryland Wizards Magic Club and many competition awards from Clowns of America. Charlie Fowler, a local ventriloquist, took John under his wings and taught him the time-honored craft of ventriloquism. Soon after an assortment of characters were added to John’s repertoire. Uncle Nick, his most famous character, has charmed audiences at family events, banquets, and comedy clubs.  He was hired by the Big Apple Circus Clown Care ® in 1996 and since then John as Doctor JJ devotes 3 days a week entertaining the children, families and staff at Children’s National Medical Center in our Nations Capitol and at Johns Hopkins Hospital Children’s Center.
